Novo Nordisk is reacting swiftly to a disappointing interim report earlier in the month and continued downward pressure on drug prices in the US and has introduced a hiring freeze in its home country Denmark.

This is according to Business.dk.

According to Business.dk, Novo Nordisk has hired almost 4,000 new workers since 2010. The online news site says the decision to freeze hiring is a direct consequence of the Q2 report released in the beginning of august, which was seen as highly disappointing by the market.

“It’s an action that follows our announcement at the end of H1 about lowered expectations for price developments in the US in coming years. We also lowered our guidance for full-year sales slightly. As a part of our cost management efforts, we have implemented a hiring freeze in our Danish operations which is effective until further notice. How long that will last is something we will figure out later,” Mike Rulis Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, tells Business.dk.
