Finance Firm: Sonova acquisition spells bad news for William Demant
With the acquisition of the Dutch hearing aid chain Audionova, Swiss-based company Sonova will become nearly as big as the world’s largest hearing aid unit Amplifon. The deal could pose negative consequences for Danish unit William Demant, projects global asset management firm Sanford C. Bernstein.

Sonova’s purchase of the Dutch hearing aid manufacturer Audionova is the largest transaction on the detail market seen by the hearing aid industry, and the addition of Audionova’s 1,300 stores means Sonova will suddenly find itself in the same league as the Italian company Amplifon, the world’s largest hearing aid reseller.
