The small Danish company Acarix A/S, which develops the blood clot alarm system, is aiming to launch its product as early as 2013. The company, which came about as a result of a collaboration between Coloplast and University of Aalborg, has just completed a study at Aarhus University Hospital, Skejby, and is now gearing up for a larger clinical study, the company COO, Claus Christensen, told Medwatch.

“Just this week we completed a supplementary study at Skejby, as preparation for a CE approval. Afterwards the aim is to carry out clinical trials involving some 1000 people and launch the product in 2013,” he says, acknowledging the ambitious nature of the aim.
