Price reductions destroy patent protection
It eats away at patent protection, when drug companies are forced to lower prices on their medicine in order to win reimbursement. It will harm patients in the long run, says Sanofi’s chief of the Nordic and Baltic regions.

More and more companies feel forced to lower prices on their medicine in order to win reimbursement. It is a problem that eats away at patent protection, according to Lasse Petersen, general manger of the Nordic and Baltic countries for French drug group Sanofi. He says the price reductions could have a negative impact on the development of new drugs and thus reduce treatment options for patients.
