Could Lundbeck and Otsuka be looking to expand partnership?

Schizophrenia pills with microchips could be the next major area of collaboration between Lundbeck and Otsuka, who both see a huge potential in the technology.

Japanese pharma group Otsuka has come a long way with the development of pills containing microchips, so-called smart tablets, and Lundbeck could get in on the presumed success. It has yet to be decided if the Danish pharmaceutical company should play a part in next great drug hope from the Japanese group, but the CEO of the Danish firm, Ulf Wiinberg, is certainly open to the idea.

“It is important to point out that is an idea we are evaluating at the moment and we haven’t made a decision yet. It is a very exciting idea and the concept is very appealing, but it is not something we have decided to go ahead with yet,” Ulf Wiinberg tells Medwatch.
