
Novel research from the Biotech Research and Innovation Centre (BRIC) at Copenhagen University and Finsen Laboratoriet at Rigshospitalet has identified a protein complex that acts as a molecular button, which switches on a type of self-renewal program in liver cells.
When the body’s specialized cells, such as liver or skin cells, develop from stem cells, they lose their ability to divide and foster new cells. So renewing our cells is a task left to the stem cells found in our bodies.
