Scientists map out important immune reaction

Danish researchers reveal details of how the immune system starts a chain reaction. The team of scientists expects the new knowledge to lead to more intelligent ways of developing medicine.

A new study has yielded scientific results that could lead to new, better ways of developing medicine, according to the researchers from University of Aarhus responsible for the study.

The team has mapped out in detail how one of the most important processes in the immune system takes place. It pertains to the part of the immune system known as the complement system – a common term for some 40 different proteins, the task of which it is to eliminate pathogens.
