Solar-powered cooler will bring drugs to developing countries

Spurred on by The World Diabetes Foundation a Danish company has designed a solar cell-powered cooler to help distribute medicine to the most remote regions of the world’s developing countries. The owner of the company is currently trying to secure capital for the project.

Cooling is an important factor in handling vaccines and diabetes medicine. In many third world countries transporting medicine to small, remote villages is difficult because of the extreme heat.

At present Styrofoam boxes are used for the final stages of transport and it often leads to the medicine being wasted, says Nicolas Nicolaou, owner of the company NicoDesign.
