The capital fund CVC Partners wants to sell the Matas-chain, but they want to bring the almost 40 self-contained stores on board first, however, it won’t happen without a fight.

After five years of ownership, the capital fund CVC Partners wants to sell off the Danish drug store chain, Matas, in 2012. To ease the sales process of the entire chain later this year the capital fund is now trying to convince the almost 40 self-contained stores to sell their businesses to CVC, according to Danish business daily Børsen.

“We have received an unambiguous hint that now is the time to sell to CVC or the individual druggists will be outcompeted,” says lawyer Mikkel Kæregaard, Delacour Dania, who is an adviser for Foreningen for Selvstændige Materialister (Associationen of Self-contained Druggists).
