‘Wrapping up’ chemotherapy for breast cancer sufferers

A new type of treatment, which ’wraps up’ the chemotherapy in an antibody, spells good news for women with an especially aggressive type of breast cancer.

Things that are wrapped up are usually seen as positive, but that is certainly not the case for the cancer cells that receive the ‘gift’ of chemotherapy wrapped in Herceptine.

A recent study of 991 women affected by the highly aggressive HER2-positive cancer cells has examined the effectiveness of a treatment that combines chemotherapy with the antibody Herceptine, rather than using the two as individual treatments.
