Brains on automatic pilot

Book review: Our consciousness has no effect on most of what we do, think and feel, according to David Eagleman’s book about the human brain. The following review was written in connection with a recent publication of a Danish translation of the popular book.

I missed the American neurologist David Eagleman’s debut book Sum – Forty Tales from the Afterlife. But whether or not I missed out on anything is up for debate. The reviewer from Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten only awarded it two stars (10.01.2011), while it had others jumping for joy. Now the brain researcher is back with a book that offers an easily accessible introduction to the secret and contradictory life of the human brain.
