Analyst: new hearing patch can challenge the established market

A new product from Austrian company Med-El can replace a special hearing device solution that traditionally requires surgery – a market dominated by companies like the Denmark's William Demant. The Danish hearing aid giant must seriously consider the competition, says Sydbank analyst.

The competition has increased on the market for so-called bone conduction systems.

The Austrian company Med-El has recently launched a brand-new solution that can potentially replace traditional hearing aids requiring surgical procedures. Med-El’s solution is a kind of patch that sticks onto the skin behind the ear whereas traditional bone anchored hearing devices are attached to a screw in the scull.
