It was a wish to become CEO that lead the head of Novo Nordisk’s US business to resign his job with the pharma group. Novo’s chairman says the group does not rely on any one person.

“Sometimes you put up some expectations, and others might have opinions about how realistic they are. But once they’re there, they’re difficult to get rid of. That’s the realization I made. The urge to take charge took root in me, and that’s really not Novo’s fault.”
