
Why do some plants and bacteria contain substances with the ability to combat cancer? Scientists can give no clear answer to that at present, but associate professor Thomas B. Poulsen from the chemistry department at Aarhus University hopes to be able to provide the answer in a not too distant future.
He is currently attempting to discover “which mechanisms trigger these substances", and he has just received a Lundbeck Foundation Fellowship of 10 million kroner (1.7 million USD) to continue his research, the foundation reveals in a press release.
