Researchers find new proteins for cancer treatment

New research from The Danish Cancer Association sheds light on seven proteins necessary for the survival of cancerous cells and could spell good news for cancer patients.

The Danish Cancer Association has been conducting research into so-called lysosomes, which are small acidic organelles found in healthy as well as cancerous cells. Their function is to break down waste material in the cells, however, the lysosomes in cancerous cells are more unstable than in healthy cells, meaning that if the lysosomes leak into the actual cell it can effectively kill it.
