Danish Medicoindustrien rebukes politicians and economists: Centralized procurement does not save money

For years, the Danish regions have procured medical devices for hospitals together, and a national medtech procurement service will thus not bring more savings. This is according to the Danish medtech industry association, Medicoindustrien. But health economists maintain the potential savings.

As part of the reform of the health system, the Danish government recently presented a proposal of centralizing procurement of medical devices for Danish hospitals in Amgros, which already handles the procurement of hospital medicines.

But the government and health economists have reckoned without host, says the Danish medtech industry association Medicoindustrien that rebukes the government's initiative.
